5000-Year Old Pottery Kilns Found in NW China Ten pottery kilns dating back to the Yangshao Culture Period ( about 5,000 years ago) were recently unearthed at the Baoshan Ruins on the southern slopes of Mt. Qinling in Shannxi Province.

5000-Year Old Pottery Kilns Found in NW China Ten pottery kilns dating back to the Yangshao Culture Period ( about 5,000 years ago) were recently unearthed at the Baoshan Ruins on the southern slopes of Mt. Qinling in Shannxi Province.

They were excavated by a group of archeologists led by Zhao Congcang, a professor at the Northwest China University.

The kilns are scattered over a 500 square meter area. Each contains a stove and a two-chamber kiln. The kilns were divided into four groups. They are different from other kilns of the same period.

China to Show Underground Tombs of Seignior Graveyard A 107-square-km Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) seignior graveyard and its underground tomb chambers on the outskirts of Guilin, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has been planned as a tourist site after over 10 years of excavation.

Based on a restoration blueprint provided by archeologists, the State Development Planning Commission approved a 20 million yuan budget for the country's well-preserved graveyard last year.

Renovation of the main structure of the Jingjiang Seignior Graveyard, which contains 11 seignior tombs and over 300 tombs of lower-ranking officials and their relatives, will be finished within two years, according to the office in charge of the graveyard.

China to Select Top Ten Relics Exhibitions China's State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH) plans to select ten best relics exhibitions nationwide which were organized during the past year.

The SACH will select the outstanding exhibitions among those applicants from all museums.

According to rules governing the selection, which is co- sponsored by the Chinese Society of Museology and China Cultural Relics News, any newly-arranged or renovated exhibition between January 1 and December 31, 2000, in the Chinese mainland are eligible to participate in the contest.
