The new Biblical
Heritage Center logo below was created on
May 6, 2010
by Jim Myers.
This is just a rough draft and the final version will be much
sharper. It is a symbolic
representation of the mission and purpose of the Biblical Heritage
Center. It has taken a
decade of work to arrive at the understanding behind the logo. The launching
of this logo will signify the beginning of the next phase of the
BHC
journey as it switches its primary emphasis
from research to the implementation of the knowledge and wisdom discovered
to this point. The research will continue, but it will be much
more focused on specific topics and request received from the social
network.
The Biblical
Heritage Center will become the information clearinghouse and global
social networking center of Informed Believers.
An Informed Believer is an individual who is committed to keeping
his or her beliefs system large enough to include all of the facts, open
enough to be tested, and flexible enough to change in light of new
information. We will establish a FACTS section which provide
overview pages for primary topics - Biblical Canons, Religious
Movements, Statements of Faith, Evolution of Belief Systems, etc.
The Clearinghouse
function consists of primary research, analysis, publication, and
distribution factual information for Informed Believers.
The Global Social Networking function will link Informed
Believers together by creating online and local groups.
It will also focus on raising the awareness of the benefits of being
or the liabilities and risks of not being an Informed
Believer.

The components
that make up the logo each represent an important part of the mission of
BHC.

The ancient
symbol for “god” inscribed on cuneiform tablets from
the Sumerian
and Acadian cultures
. It is a star-shaped ideogram
indicating a god in general. It reflects the existence of beliefs
about deities that appear in all cultures -- and the myths, mysteries
and wisdom linked to them.

The olive
laurel wreath was the
highest award given to a citizen in ancient
Greece
.
Informed Believers are committed to being responsible citizens of
the earth and work to create SHALOM and TOV. Like the Olympic athletes,
elevating their creative capabilities to new heights will be one
of their greatest rewards.

The
foundational beliefs of many of our Belief Systems begin with the Jewish Scriptures and traditions.
The Star of David reminds us of our connection to the Jewish
Biblical Heritage. Jesus was also a member of the Jewish culture and people, as
were all of his original followers.
His teachings and movement must be understood in that light.

The fish is
the symbol of the Early Christianity that allowed Gentiles to
become members of the Jesus Movement.
Gentile leaders brought many of their former beliefs into
Christianity and reshaped the teachings that they inherited from
the earlier Jewish followers of Jesus. This was a transitional period that is found in all
Christian heritages.

A dove was released from the
Ark
by Noah and returned with an olive branch to show that the flood
was over. It is a symbol of deliverance, salvation and God's
favor. The olive branch is traditionally associated with
“peace,” but the word SHALOM means totally, completeness and
wholeness. Only through creative acts that result in SHALOM can
true peace exist in mankind.

|
This is the word TOV written in
modern cursive Hebrew letters.
The acts of creation recorded in the opening chapter of
Genesis are called “TOV,” which is defined as beautiful
to the eyes. It indicates the result of the creative act was to
protect, preserve, and enhance the quality of life.

The picture of the earth
reflects the global affect and influence religious and spiritual
beliefs have had on mankind throughout history.
Beliefs that sprouted in one culture, took root in many others as
time passed. Many were never aware of the journeys that brought
the beliefs to their part of the world. It is a reminder that as the Informed Believer network
grows, so will the acts of SHALOM and the global acknowledgement
and appreciation of TOV.

“Living
beliefs in harmony with facts!”
|
“Living beliefs” has two
meanings: (1) Literally means that Informed Believers live their
beliefs in harmony with the facts.”
They view their beliefs in the light of known facts.
If facts prove that a belief is false or in error, it is
deleted from the Belief System.
(2) The second meaning is that our beliefs are living,
which means they are growing and changing.
In the ancient world many teachers prohibited their
students from writing down their teachings, because one they were
recorded they were no longer alive.
The lessons were to be taught by a living teacher that
could answer the questions of the students and make sure the
original spirit of the message was preserved.
