The books of the Tanakh (Old Testament) were written in Hebrew, with the following exceptions in which we find Aramaic words:

  1. Genesis 31:47
  2. Jeremiah 10:11
  3. Ezra 4:8-6:18; 7:12-26
  4. Daniel 2:4b-7:28

The books of the New Testament were written in Greek. Some scholars feel that the Gospels may contain information that originated in an ancient Hebrew story of Jesus. They feel that it was translated into Greek and became a source used by the writers of the Gospels.
