To
the sons of Korah; a psalm a song:
His
foundation is in the holy mountains.
YAHWEH* loves the gates of
Zion
more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
Glorious things are spoken of you, the city of a god**.
Selah.
I
will make mention of Rahab and
Babylon
to them that know me;
behold
Philistia
, and
Tyre
, with
Ethiopia
; this man
was born there.
And of
Zion
it shall be said, “This and that man
was born in her;
and the highest himself shall establish her.”
YAHWEH will count, when he writes up the people,
that this man was born
there.
Selah.
And
singers as dancers;
all my springs [of water] are in you.

* Tetragrammaton
YHVH translated as YAHWEH.

ELOHIYM is the word used in the text and it has been translated as God,
god and gods. It is BHC's position that in most cases it should be
understood in the sense of a "type of entity," i.e., a god
(unless used with a plural verb - "gods"). |
