The Hebrew-English Transliterator

This is the next tool that will enhance your Bible Study. You use it just like the Greek-English Transliterator.

Use the copy you printed as you continue this lesson.  The Hebrew-English Transliterator is divided into three sections. The left and middle section has four columns and the right section has three columns. The row number is on the left followed by the Hebrew letter or symbol, the English transliteration and the names.  Under the name of the letter is the beginning page number of the letter's section in A Concise Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament. You may order or find more information about this lexicon by clicking on the above link.

Hebrew Transliteration Exercise #1

	This is the second word of Genesis 1:1 and is translated as "created."
	Hebrew is read from RIGHT to LEFT.
	Use your Hebrew-English Transliterator to transliterate the letters and symbols in the order of the numbers.
	This is the first letter and it is found on Row 2 Colum B. Its name is "Bet" and it is transliterated "B" [Column D].
	Compare this letter to the one above. It is found on Row 3 Column B. Notice that the only difference is the dot, but that dot changes the transliteration from a "B" to a "V."
