153     Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna, tries to convince the Roman bishop Anicetus to accept the Asian traditional date for Passover.
170     Ptolemy draws 26 maps of various countries.
177     Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyon, declares that the Jews were "disinherited from the grace of God" and that they "would never have hesitated to burn their own Jewish Scriptures." 
180   Scotland Romans defeated and retreat to Hadrian's Wall.
185     Origen begins writing "Hexapla" (Old Testament in six Hebrew and Greek texts). Completes in 254.
187     Ireneaus reports a list of books for the Christian canon (not exactly the same as modern New Testament) and the existence of over 20 different types of Christianity.
190     Galen extracts plant juices for medicinal purposes.
200     Tertullian writes about the authority of the Roman Church, "that from the Church of Rome come into our hands the very authority of the apostles themselves."
200   Rome Bishop of Rome becomes pope.
200 y China Silkworms arrive from Korea. Subsequently move into Japan.
248   Rome Celebrates 1,000th anniversary.
220     Tertullian's death (prior to his death he left the Church and became a Montanist).
250     Christian persecution increases. Martyrs revered as saints.
250 y Alexandria Diophantus produces the first book on algebra.
276     Crucifixion of Mani (b. 215), founder of Manichaean sect in Persia.
285     Roman Empire partitioned into eastern and western empires.
300 y Armenia Christianity introduced.
300   China Growing influence of Buddhists.
300   Germany Bowling is considered part of religious rituals in monastaries.
303   Rome (to 311) Last persecution of Christians.
306     Emperor Constantius Chlorus dies.  Succeeded by his son, Constantine the Great (-337).
312     Emperor Constantine's vision and association with Christianity.
313     Edict of Milan: Constantine establishes toleration of Christianity.
317     Emperor Constantine orders that his coins drop their pagan effigies one by one.
321     Emperor Constantine closes law courts on Sunday, except for the "pious purpose of freeing slaves," and depreciated Sunday labor except where necessary on farms.
324     Constantine becomes the sole ruler of the Roman Empire.
325     Council of Nicea and the formation of what would become the Roman Catholic Church by Emperor Constantine.  Eusebius list of canonized books.
325 y Bethlehem Erection of first Church of the Nativity. Destroyed by fire in 529.
330 y Rome Basilican Church of St. Peter's is erected.  It is pulled down in 1506 to make room for the present cathedral.
331     Seat of Roman Empire moved to Constantinople.
337     Constantine the Great is baptized on his deathbed.  He is succeeded by his three sons, Constantine II, Constantius II, and Constans
338     Jews improve their calender by introducing different lengths of years.
340     Roman Empire again splits with Constans as Western and Constantius II as Eastern Emperor.
350 y Abyssinia Christianity introduced.

363     Athanasius list of canonical books of the New Testament.  First list that has the same books as today's New Testament.
383   Britain Roman legions begin to evacuate.
390     Jerome's Latin Vulgate Manuscripts Produced which contain All 80 Books (39 Old Test. + 14 Apocrypha + 27 New Test).
450     Fall of the Roman Empire. 
600     LATIN is the only language allowed for Scripture.
687     Lindisfarne Gospels translated in an interlinear gloss form.
700     Psalms translated by Caedmon.
735     Gospel of John translated by Bede, the monk of Yarrow.
850     British Museum Codex of the Torah copy made.
900     Exodus and Acts translated by King Alfred the Great.
916     The Liningrad Codex (Hebrew) made.
930     The Aleppo Codex of the Tanakh (Hebrew) made.
