1701 - 1982 CE

 

1724 CE: The Common Translation - a corrected version of the King James Version.

1729 CE: Daniel Mace's corrected King James Version with the Greek text printed side-by-side.

1755 CE: John Wesley's New Testament - King James Version with 12,000 corrections made in it.

1782 CE: Robert Aitken's Bible -  It is the first English language Bible (the King James Version without the Apocrypha) to be printed in America.

1791 CE: Isaac Collins and Isaiah Thomas respectively produce the first Family Bible and the first Illustrated Bible, printed in America.  They were both King James Versions and contained 80 books.

1808 CE: Jane Aitken's Bible (daughter of Robert Aitken) - The first Bible to be printed by a woman.

1833 CE: Noah Webster's Bible -  After completing his famous dictionary, Webster printed his own revised version of the King James Bible.

1841 CE: English Hexapla New Testament - An early textual comparison showing a Greek text with six famous English translations in parallel columns.

1846 CE: The Illuminated Bible - The most lavishly illustrated Bible printed in America.  A King James Version that contained all 80 Books.

1862 CE: Young's Literal Translation.

1881 CE: The English Revised Standard Version of the Bible printed.

1885 CE: The "Revised" English Revised Version of the Bible.  It was the first major English revision of the King James Bible with the Apocrypha officially removed, thus leaving only 66 books.

1901 CE: The "American Standard Version" - The first major American revision of the King James Bible.

1917 CE: The Holy Scriptures According to the Masoretic Text.

1947 CE: The first Dead Sea Scroll discovered.

1948 CE: United Nations establishes Israel as a nation.

1952 CE: More Dead Sea Scrolls discovered.

1956 CE: Additional Dead Sea Scrolls discovered.

1962 CE: The Torah - The New Jewish Version

1962        Paul Baran of the RAND Corporation commissioned by the U.S. Air Force to create a military research network that could survive a nuclear strike.  His final proposal was the precursor to today's internet.

1965 CE: The Amplified Bible

1966 CE: The Jerusalem Bible

1971 CE: The Living Bible

1971 CE: The "New American Standard Bible" (NASB), published as a "modern and accurate word-for-word English translation" of the Bible.

1972        First e-mail message sent by Ray Tomlinson of BBN Corp.

1973 CE: The "New International Version" (NIV), published as a "modern and accurate phrase-for-phrase English translation" of the Bible.

1982 CE: The "New King James Version" (NKJV), published as a "modern English version maintaining the original style of the King James."

1982 CE: The Reader's Digest Bible

1992        World Wide Web launched.

1994        Pizza Hut offers pizza ordering on its site.  The first cyberbank, First Virtual, opens.

1999        27 million  to 50 million people browse the Web daily.
