History
Renewal Judaism integrates commitment to egalitarianism, ecological
awareness, and progressive politics with Hasidic mysticism and kabbalah.
Renewal Jews view the Torah as a record of spiritual seekers, and they
look for the emotional process underlying the text. Mitzvot must be
examined one at a time to decide which are binding. Chant, meditation,
dance, the graphic arts, and drama are encouraged alongside more
conventional forms of worship.
National organization: ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal.
